Terms of use
The agreement between you and Learnford: your account, buying a course, refunds and the rules.
Last updated
The short version
- A course costs US$149, tax included. Nothing renews.
- Lifetime access means for as long as Learnford offers the course. If that ever ends, you get 90 days' notice, and a full refund if it's within a year of buying.
- You get a full refund within 30 days if you've opened fewer than 10 paid lessons. This covers each course once.
- Your account is for you alone. Don't share it, and don't copy the lessons.
- Learnford is not affiliated with Microsoft or Google.
- Nothing here takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or your own country's consumer laws.
If this summary and the full terms below ever seem to differ, the full terms apply.
These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Dhaka Co (ABN 89 224 504 274), trading as Learnford. They cover learnford.com, the free lessons and courses, and any course you buy. Our Privacy policy is part of them.
By using Learnford or buying a course, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Learnford.
Who can use Learnford
- You must be at least 13 to make an account.
- You must be 18 or older to buy a course. If you're younger, a parent or guardian has to buy it for you and agree to these terms.
- Learnford isn't for children under 13. If we learn that one has an account, we delete it.
Your account
- You sign in with Google, or with a code we email you. There are no passwords.
- Anyone who can open that email inbox or Google account can sign in as you. Keep them secure.
- One account per person, and one account per email address. A course belongs to the account it's on.
- If you think someone else is using your account, email [email protected] straight away.
Free lessons and courses
- Some lessons in each paid course are free, and some courses, such as Touch typing, are free in full. They work without an account.
- Sign in to save your progress.
- We may change which lessons are free. That never takes anything away from a course you bought.
What a course includes
- A course is a set of lessons for one program, such as Excel or Google Sheets.
- Lessons run in a practice version of the program, in your browser. It's our own software. It works like the real program for the skills we teach, but it doesn't have every feature, and some things look or work a little differently.
- Lessons need a laptop or desktop computer with an up-to-date browser and an internet connection. They don't run on phones or tablets. The rest of the site does.
- We keep improving the courses: we add, update, reorder or retire lessons, for example when the real program changes. We won't change a course so much that it becomes clearly less than what we described when you bought it.
- The courses teach skills. We can't promise a result, such as a job or a raise. There are no certificates.
Buying a course
Price. Each course costs US$149, with any sales tax, VAT or GST included. When you buy a course, you can add another one for US$49 in the same payment. Checkout may show the price in your own currency; if it does, you pay the amount it shows. Your bank may add its own fees.
Who takes the payment. Checkout is run by Stripe, and your purchase is "Sold through Link". Link (Sold through Link, LLC, a Stripe company) is the merchant of record: it takes the payment, works out and pays the tax, and sends your receipt. Your card statement shows "LINK.COM*" and our name. Link's terms and privacy policy apply to the payment. We are responsible for the course itself: your access, the lessons and support.
Access. The course opens on your account as soon as the payment is confirmed. If you bought without signing in, sign in with the email you gave at checkout, or open the private link on your confirmation page.
Refunds and disputes. If a payment is refunded, or a bank dispute is decided in your favor, the courses in it close on your account.
Price changes. Prices may change for future purchases. A change never affects a course you already bought.
Lifetime access
Lifetime access means you can use a course for as long as Learnford offers it. There are no monthly or yearly fees.
If we ever plan to close Learnford, or to stop offering a course you bought, we will:
- email you at least 90 days before your access ends, and say so on the site;
- keep the course open for you until then; and
- give you a full refund if your access ends within 12 months of buying the course, however many lessons you opened.
If another business takes over Learnford, it must keep your access going. If it doesn't, that counts as closing the course, and the promise above applies.
This doesn't cover short outages or maintenance, or an account closed under Closing accounts.
Refunds
The 30-day money-back guarantee
You get a full refund of a payment if both of these are true:
- it's 30 days or fewer since you paid; and
- in each course in that payment, you've opened fewer than 10 paid lessons.
How it works:
- A paid lesson counts once you open it, finished or not. Free lessons never count.
- A payment with two courses in it is refunded whole, so both courses close.
- The guarantee covers each course once. If you've had a refund for a course before, buying it again doesn't come with the guarantee.
- Your Account page shows how many paid lessons you've opened.
How to get a refund
Click Request a refund next to the purchase on your Account page. The site checks the rule and, if the payment qualifies, refunds it straight away to the way you paid. It usually shows on your statement within 5 to 10 days. If you think the check got it wrong, email [email protected] and a person will look.
You can also ask Link for a refund: reply to your receipt, or go to support.link.com. Link has its own refund policy. If it gives you a refund where ours doesn't, Link's applies.
After a refund
The courses in that payment close straight away. Your progress stays saved, and the free lessons stay open.
Bank disputes
Please use the refund button or email us before you dispute a charge with your bank. It's faster. While a dispute is open, the refund button doesn't work for that payment.
Your rights under the law
Our guarantee is extra. It doesn't replace the rights the law gives you.
Australia. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If a course has a major failure, you may be owed a refund even after 30 days, or after opening more lessons. In the law's own words:
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us; and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
EU and UK. The law may give you 14 days from buying to cancel. To use it, email [email protected] within those 14 days.
Everywhere else. You keep any rights your local consumer laws give you.
Your license and the rules
When you get a course, or open a free lesson, you get a personal license to use it for your own learning, for as long as you have access. Use the skills anywhere, and teach them to others. Just don't copy the lessons.
You must not:
- share your account or let anyone else use it (if your employer pays, the course is still for one person);
- copy, record, publish, sell or share the lessons, their data or their exercises (your own notes are fine);
- scrape the site, use bots to open lessons, or use the lessons to train AI;
- take apart the practice programs or the site, except where the law allows it;
- get around sign-in, payment or access checks;
- resell or rent access, or use our lessons to run your own paid class;
- overload or attack the site;
- abuse the money-back guarantee, for example by buying and refunding again and again; or
- break the law or anyone's rights while using Learnford.
Closing accounts
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, for example by sharing it, scraping or abusing refunds. Where it's reasonable, we'll warn you first, say why, and give you a chance to fix it.
- If we close your account because you broke these terms, your courses close with no refund, except where the law says otherwise.
- If we close your account for any other reason, we refund what you paid for the courses on it. If we close Learnford or stop offering a course, Lifetime access applies instead.
- You can close your account any time by emailing [email protected]. Your courses close with it. That doesn't come with a refund unless the guarantee or the law gives you one.
Our content and trademarks
- We own the courses, the lessons with their data and exercises, the practice programs, and the site's design and code. These terms give you only the license above.
- Learnford is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft or Google. Excel is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation, and Google Sheets is a trademark of Google LLC. We use the names only to say what our courses teach. The practice programs are our own software.
- If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely.
Other companies
Learnford relies on Google (sign-in and email), Stripe and Link (checkout and payments), Cloudflare (delivering and protecting the site) and Hetzner (our server). Their own terms apply when you use their services, and we aren't responsible for how they run them. This doesn't limit your rights under the law.
Availability
We work to keep Learnford running and the lessons working, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may pause the site for maintenance, updates or security. As far as the law allows, Learnford is provided as it is, with no promises beyond these terms and your rights under the law.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits what the law doesn't let us limit. That includes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, liability for fraud, and, in the EU and the UK, death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Apart from that:
- our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for the courses the claim is about;
- we aren't responsible for loss that wasn't reasonably foreseeable when you bought the course;
- if you use a course for business, we aren't responsible for lost profits, business or opportunities; and
- the practice programs are for practice, not for real work. Check important numbers in your own spreadsheet.
Some US states don't allow some of these limits. There, they apply as far as your state's law allows.
Changes to these terms
- We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
- If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or on the site at least 30 days before it applies to you.
- A change never takes away access you paid for, or shortens the refund window of a purchase you already made.
- If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using Learnford and close your account.
Problems and disputes
- Talk to us first. Email [email protected]. Most problems are quick to fix. We usually reply within 2 business days.
- The law that applies. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Its courts can hear disputes about them. That doesn't stop you from going to the courts of your own country where the law gives you that right.
- Outside Australia. If you're a consumer in another country, you keep the protection of your own country's laws, and you can bring a claim in your local courts where those laws allow it.
General
- These terms and the Privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Learnford.
- If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- You can't transfer your account or your courses to someone else. We may transfer these terms to a business that takes over Learnford.
- We send notices to your account's email address. Send yours to [email protected].
