IF: make a decision in a cell

Write an IF that shows one result or another depending on a test, with text, numbers or an empty cell as the result.

Beginner · 11 min · 12 steps

In this lesson

  • Tests compare two things: =, <> (not equal), >, <, >= (at least), <= (at most).
  • Text results go in double quotes: "Met". Without them you get #NAME?.
  • Numbers go without quotes: 750. In quotes, "750" is text and SUM skips it.
