Nested IF vs IFS

Choose between three or more outcomes with a nested IF or IFS, and put the tests in the right order.

Confident · 10 min · 10 steps

In this lesson

  • Nested IF: =IF(test1, result1, IF(test2, result2, otherwise)). One closing parenthesis per IF.
  • Both stop at the first TRUE test. With >= tiers, test the highest limit first.
  • Check the boundaries: >= includes the limit itself, > doesn't.
