Profit margin and markup
Work out markup and profit margin from cost and price, tell them apart, and set a price that hits a target margin.
In this lesson
- Profit = price − cost.
- Markup = profit ÷ cost:
=(C2-B2)/B2. - Margin is always smaller than markup and below 100%: 50% markup = 33.3% margin, 100% markup = 50% margin.
